My Aunt was a resident in a nursing home located near Fluehr in Richboro. I'm the only surviving relative with the capability to handle it, so when she passed away in the middle of the night June 27, 2015, I received the phone call. I was surprised to learn that no funeral arrangements were previously made, as she was an end-stage cancer patient and had plenty of time. I had to work early in the morning, so I told the nursing home I would have arrangements by the next afternoon. Apparently that was not acceptable because when I called to tell them which funeral home would be picking my Aunt up, they had taken it upon themselves to contact Fluehr and she had already been transported to their funeral home. I called to change the arrangements and was told it would cost $1800.00 just to have my Aunt moved to the funeral home of my choice. $1800.00 to go up the street, pick up an 80 pound elderly woman and hold her overnight. At that point it made no sense financially to move her, and I suppose possession is 9/10th's of some law, so I went ahead and had her cremated there. What I was going to pay at McCaffrey's in Philadelphia was $995.00 plus $9.00 for each Death Certificate I ordered. For exactly he same thing, Fluehr got me for $3100.00. No coffin, no pine box, no service, no obituary, nothing. Can you imagine? My Aunt had a small insurance policy, which luckily paid the cost, but I'm sure her disabled son could have used the extra $2000.00. Notice that they don't list any of their prices on their website? There's a reason a company doesn't tell the public up front what to expect financially, and they had me in a disadvantageous position because they already had my Aunt's body. My advice to anyone is to pre-pay your funeral, don't leave the decisions to your survivors who are already distraught over losing you. Personally, it's not that Fluehr did a poor job, it's just that they are overpriced for the service they offered me. They should send me a refund or at the least post an obituary.

My family has used Fluehr's funeral home for years. Their professionalism and heartfelt care that they give is unmatched. I have and will continue to recommend them to anyone who has lost a loved one. I've never had any doubt that my deceased loved ones were treated with the care and respect that they deserved.
